On Saturday September 29, 2018 Mary Anne and Chef Richard Erickson are hosting a 25th Anniversary party for their business Blue Mountain Bistro-to-Go. They both will be on site to sign their newly released cookbook, Feel Good Food, Recipes from the Hudson Valley’s Blue Mountain Bistro-to-Go. Throughout the day, they will be offering samples from recipes in the book, along with bubbly, chocolate cake for all, and special prizes and give-aways.

The 280 page hardback book draws on their 25 years experience as chef and artist, operating Blue Mountain Bistro and now, Bistro-to-Go. Chef Richard shares many of his favorite recipes collected over the years. Artist Mary Anne, who also designed their vintage-inspired neon road sign, sets a new bar for the contemporary cookbook with vibrant watercolors, line-drawings, photography, and playful design. Their son Chris, who grew up in the restaurant, opened the store while in high school, and now a successful graphic designer, also helped shape the design of the book. This is truly a “Feel Good Story” as well as a beautiful cookbook.

In the chapter “Glorious Hudson Valley” they have profiled their favorite farmers and purveyors who help make the Hudson Valley a fabulous food destination. Equal parts cookbook, art book, travel guide, and love story, there is something here for everyone.

The Ericksons opened Blue Mountain Bistro in 1993 in Woodstock, and quickly gained an enthusiastic following. In 1996, they expanded, buying and renovating a building at the corner of Glasco Turnpike and Route 212 (between Woodstock and Saugerties) where they refined their vision of feel good food and service. The rustic, wood-beamed building, a zinc bar, and first rate weekend jazz combined with farm-to-table food (before that term was popular) to create a rustic elegance that warmed the hearts of all who dined there.

Seeking more family-friendly working hours and a wider audience, they opened Bistro-to-Go in November 2007 on Route 28. In the past 10 years they’ve expanded to include an on-premise bakery, cafe, gourmet grocery and full-service catering operation. Their business features topquality restaurant chefs serving food 7 days a week to Hudson Valley residents, discerning New York city second-home owners and visitors on Route 28.

Feel Good Food will be available for purchase at their store, through their website at this link: http://www.bluemountainbistro.com/feel-good-food-cookbook, as well as many local bookstores including The Golden Notebook in Woodstock, Oblong Books in Rhinebeck, Rough Draft in Kingston, Blue Cashew in Kingston, Postmark Books in Rosendale and other regional bookstores including Battenkill Books and Split Rock Books.

Come help Chef Richard Erickson and Mary Anne Erickson celebrate their 25th Anniversary, sample some of the recipes, and get a signed copy of the book on Saturday September 29, 2018 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
